Places of Interest

This part of the Norfolk coast is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty and is renowned for its miles of wide sandy beaches, marshes and bird watching.  There are also excellent sailing, golf, and walking facilities in the area.  The coast is readily accessible by the regular Coasthopper bus service, and you get views you just can’t see from the car.

Holkham Hall is just one of several historic houses: There is Houghton Hall, Felbrigg, Blickling and of course Sandringham just 20 miles away.  Inland there are villages and a variety of small towns.

Nearby are The Burnhams: Burnham Market, Burnham Overy Staithe, Burnham Thorpe (where Nelson was born), Walsingham,Stiffkey, Morston, Blakeney and Cley. “normal for Norfolk” Wiveton Hall lies between the two. Holt is worth a visit. We like The Parlour in Binham, right by the Priory ruins for the view, the food – and the raw milk!

Further afield on the outskirts of Norwich on the UEA campus is the Sainsbury Centre – an amazing collections and usually an exhibition.
